Mr. Wachtel is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Atlantic World history. His dissertation connects the origin of the French Jesuit missionary program in Canada to religious politics in France at the end of the Wars of Religion. Through his work, he seeks to understand how the colonial experience in North America shaped Catholicism on both sides of the Atlantic. At Ohio State, he teaches History 151, American Civilizations to 1877 and History 182, World History since 1500. His advisor is Alan Gallay.
