Eric H. Limbach received his PhD in History from Michigan State University in 2011 with a dissertation on the reception and integration of East German refugees in West Germany prior to the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961. A portion of this research, on West Berlin’s refugee reception system in the early 1950s, was published in the journal Central European History in 2014. At Ohio State, he teaches courses on Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries; previously, he has also taught courses on the Holocaust, Modern European History, World History, Globalization, and International Relations at other institutions.
