Department of History Textbook Policy

Higher Education Opportunity Act 2008 Textbook Deadline Memo [pdf]

  1. Deadlines for ordering textbooks are as follows:

    • Autumn Semester: January 31

    • Spring Semester: September 30

    • Summer Semester: January 1

  2. Instructors (including Faculty, Lecturers, and Small Section Leaders) should place their own textbook orders online. Orders may be placed with Barnes & Noble OSU through Faculty Enlight.

The Department of History does not endorse any one bookstore, but instructors may elect to place book orders with one store or to share them among many stores.

To place an order with the University Bookstore, go to Faculty on their website and that will take you to a login page. There you will find instructions for ordering books online or downloading an Excel order form that can be submitted by email. You might be required to register contact information upon first use.

  3. Early each semester the staff member will send an e-mail to all instructors indicating textbook ordering deadlines and providing a link to the ordering site. They will also send periodic reminders to instructors who do not submit copies of book orders.

  4. DESK COPIES: The appropriate staff member will order desk copies. If you need desk copies, send an email to Ashley Bowerman indicating the course number, author, title, publisher, edition, ISBN and the number of desk copies needed. Place this order no later that one month before the start of the semester. The staff member will send you an e-mail confirming they have ordered the desk copies.
