Three artists representing Wyandot, Cherokee/ Shawnee and Delaware (Lenape) traditions associated with Indigenous Ohio will will hold a live pottery-making demonstration.
This event will be conducted in an open-house format, and attendees are welcome to arrive and depart at any time during the scheduled event hours.
Richard Zane Smith, OAA Visiting Artist for 2026-2027, is an IACB Certified Indian Artist whose work appears in the Smithsonian, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the American Craft Museum in New York. A citizen of the Wyandot Nation of Kansas and recognized by the Wyandot Nation of Oklahoma and the Wendat of Quebec, his current work adapts elements from Fort Ancient culture. Active in Native American cultural and language preservation, he also trains short-term ceramic apprentices.
Carrie G. Lind (Cherokee Nation/Shawnee) coils clay from her allotment on the White Oak Oklahoma Cherokee reserve and is interested in revitalizing Shawnee pottery-making. Her work received support from the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation. Alicia Rezendes, a citizen of the Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma, documents the Delaware nation’s cultural outreach programs and is working to revive its ceramic traditions.
