A student may also petition to take the candidacy examination in an area of study not on our list. Reading lists for such a tailored major/minor field are created in consultation with the advisor and are approved by the Graduate Studies Committee on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, the department offers the option for the student to take the candidacy examination in one of our interdisciplinary Constellations framed around thematic questions.
