Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Independent Study

Students may pursue their own short-term independent research projects under the guidance of a faculty member and earn credit for History 3193.01/4193.01 (graded A – E) or History 3193.02/4193.02 (graded S/U). Permission of the faculty member is required and credit is variable (1 – 6 credit hours). No more than three credit hours of 3193 or 4193, however, may count toward the history major or minor.
