While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Mark Sokolsky's research examines Russian and Soviet colonization in the Far Eastern region known as Primor’e (or the Maritime Territory) between 1860 and 1940. The project focuses on the relationship between colonization, environmental change, and conservation in the territory, and the ways in which national and ethnic tensions undergirded the Russian approach to ecological questions.
