Join us for the opening of a new exhibit honoring Dr. Helen G. Edmonds, the first Black woman to earn a PhD in History from The Ohio State University in 1946. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of this historic achievement, the exhibit highlights Edmonds’ groundbreaking scholarship, mentorship, and service to her race. This exhibit is curated by Ohio State History PhD Candidate Sierra Phillips and Ohio State Assistant Professor Dr. Maria Hammack. A brief Keynote Speech will be given by Dr. JoCora Moore, Public Historian and Assisant Professor of History at Elizabeth City State University.
