In this talk, RIT Professor of History Tamar Carroll will discuss three exhibitions she has curated, Whose Streets? Our Streets!: New York City, 1980-2000, Up Against the Wall: AIDS Educational Posters, and Picturing Equality: The Lambda Network at Kodak, and how they have both informed and been inspired by her academic scholarship. Carroll will discuss the process of working with community collaborators as well as museum professionals, creating archives, and making both digital and physical exhibitions to share with the general public. She will talk about how writing peer-reviewed scholarship based in those projects not only allowed them to “count” for her professionally but also brought deeper insights into her public-facing work.
