“President Trump’s newfound focus on Asia and personal diplomatic exchanges and meetings with leaders in Japan, South Korea and China mark a significant shift for him, as overall tariff policy and regional issues related to Europe, Russia and Ukraine, as well as Israel, had been major areas of emphasis in the first term and early in his second term,” -- Prof. Christopher McKnight Nichols on Trump's recent visit to China, "Winds of Change," The News on Sunday.
Prof. Nichols was quoted extensively in the article and also stated, “I don’t think that the Trump-Xi meeting represented an acceptance of a post-American world order. If anything, Donald Trump certainly believes the US is the world’s preeminent power, even if he disavows American world leadership explicitly."
Professor Nichols was also quoted on CBS News in an article about billionaires in history, and stated, "The billionaires of the Gilded Age and the multimillionaires were involved in what we think of as blue chip industries, where there are lots of jobs and stuff produced. The billionaires of today's world are mostly working in tech sectors and places that very often don't employ many people."
