Swygart appointed president-elect of the Academic Advising Association

Department of History academic and pre-law advisor Ms. Kari Swygart has been appointed president-elect of the Academic Advising Association of The Ohio State University (ACADAOS) for the 2026 – 27 academic year. She will serve as the organization’s president in 2027 – 28. 

Founded in 1991, ACADAOS represents more than 200 professional academic advisors at Ohio State and since 1994 has been an affiliate of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). The organization provides support and professional development opportunities for advisors and encourages recognition for the important work that academic advisors do. It also facilitates dialog among faculty, staff, and graduate students on advising issues and trends.

Ms. Swygart joined the Department of History in March 2023 after having served as admissions counselor and staff assistant at the OSU Lima Campus and as academic advisor at Wright State University. She teaches both the freshman survey and career development course for history majors, manages updates to undergraduate degree requirements, and is the Department’s advising liaison with units across the University. She earned her B.A. in psychology at Ohio State and an M.S. in clinical psychology at Loyola University Maryland.
