Theodora Dragostinova Gives Annual Şarik Tara Memorial Lecture
Recently, Professor Theodora Dragostinova delivered the annual Şarik Tara Memorial Lecture at the Keyman Modern Turkish Studies Program of Northwestern University, which seeks to emphasize the interconnectivity between Ottoman and Balkan history. Based on her new research on divided families and unaccompanied children during the Balkan Wars and World War One, this talk analyzed the uncertainty of postwar peace-making, border-making, home-making, and family-making in the Balkan borderlands by using the example of young children adopted during the wars.
