John Brooke

John Brooke is Emeritus Professor, Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of History, Warner Woodring Chair in American History, and Professor of Anthropology. His areas of research and teaching interest include Early American History and Environmental History. He regularly taught Global Environmental History and Climate Change: Mechanisms, Impacts, and Mitigation. Dr. Brooke received the 1995 Bancroft Prize for his book The Refiner's Fire: The Making of Mormon Cosmology, 1644-1844. He is the author of Climate Change and the Course of Global History: A Rough Journey (Cambridge 2014) and is currently working on a revised second edition.
