Nicholas C. Kawa

Nicholas C. Kawa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and an affiliate faculty member in Comparative Studies, the Center for Latin American Studies, and the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program. His research centers on human cultural relationships with plants, soils, and waste—particularly Amazonian Dark Earth. More recently, he has investigated the use of biosolids for agricultural production, urban gardening, landscaping, and ecological restoration in the American Midwest.
