Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Cody Patton Research Profile

Cody Patton

I am an assistant professor of Modern American History at Montana State University-Billings. I study the historical connections between corporations and their environments. In addition to teaching courses on modern US and environmental history, I am currently working on adapting my dissertation, Nature’s Brew: An Environmental History of the American Brewing Industry into a book. The environmental history program at Ohio State provided me with the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field and prepared me to step into a teaching-based faculty position from day one. Studying environmental history at Ohio State also sparked my passion and appreciation for all the wonderful non-human things that make our extraordinary world possible. When I'm not working or chatting with someone about the history of beer, I enjoy hiking and camping in Montana’s Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains with my wife and our two dogs.
