Announcing the 2023-2024 cohort of Hoffman ‘Leaders and Leadership in History’ (LLIH) Fellows:

The Hoffman Leaders and Leadership in History (LLIH) Program brings together exceptional History majors and minors who are interested in furthering their leadership competencies. This transformational experience aims to enhance students’ abilities to develop into educated citizens, compassionate community members, critical thinkers, and creative problem solvers.

About the Program:

As an LLIH scholar, you will have the opportunity to

- consider the ways that studying history can shape one’s leadership potential
- meet monthly with other student leaders
- collaborate with other student leaders in the Department of History
- benefit from a mentoring program that pairs students with faculty mentors
- meet with OSU History alumni who currently serve as leaders in their diverse professional fields
- receive an LLIH scholarship of $500
 

Important Dates and Deadlines:

- The deadline to apply for the 2024-25 co-hort will be announced at a future date.
- Completed applications should be sent to Professor Robin Judd at Judd.18@osu.edu
 

Eligibility Requirements: 

Current enrollment as an undergraduate History major or minor in the Department of History at Ohio State.  All History majors and minors can (and should!) apply, but preference will be given to students in their third years (students who have earned a total of 60 to 90 credit hours). Must be willing to commit time to participate in monthly hour-long meetings 
 

Application Requirements: 

  • A personal statement that describes your (1) current leadership activities, (2) collegiate and post collegiate goals, (3) interest in the intersection of leadership and historical study, (4) reason for wishing to participate in the LLIH program, and (5) your potential contribution to building a diverse cohort of student leaders   
  • A CV/Resume
  • A copy of your OSU Advising Report 
  • One letter of recommendation from an OSU faculty member, preferably from a member of the History department. Electronic letters of recommendation should be sent to judd.18@osu.edu
