Congratulations to Sara Halpern on successfully defending her dissertation, “Saving the Unwanted: The International Response to Shanghai’s Jewish Refugees, 1943-1949.” The committee included Robin Judd (adviser), Theodora Dragostinova, Christopher Reed, and Marion Kaplan (New York University). Jeffrey Cohen of Anthropology serves as Graduate School Representative. Sara will be the second deaf student to graduate with a PhD from our department.
