Celebrate America at 250 by attending a panel presentation exploring how The Ohio State University can lead public higher education into its third century.
Born of the Morrill Act and sustained through research, extension, and broad access, Ohio State has long converted knowledge into public value. However, today’s landscape requires a renewed commitment. The panel discussion frames America’s anniversary as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine Ohio State’s land-grant legacy.
The researchers and experts who will be sharing insights at the panel event are professor Stephen M. Gavazzi, director of survey research and data center CHRR at The Ohio State University; David V. Rosowsky, senior advisor to President Michael Crow, Arizona State University; and E. Gordon Gee, a highly respected voice in higher education who has led five major universities across seven distinct presidencies, including two terms at Ohio State and most recently at West Virginia University. The three leaders co-authored a paper earlier this year, “Morrill Act 250: Reinterpreting the Public Research University Compact as Civic Trust in America’s Third Century.” (Read the paper here)

Key panel discussion topics will include:

  • Earning and measuring public trust across political and cultural divides
  • Demonstrating what listening to the public looks like
  • Aligning education and research with the real needs of local communities
  • Expanding digital and AI access

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from experts on how Ohio State can continue to position itself
as a national leader in its land-grant approach for the next 250 years.
