Emily Hardick has been named a 2021-2022 Fulbright Belgium Open Research Award Recipient as well as a 2021-2022 Belgian American Educational Foundation Graduate Fellow. Over the course of both fellowships, Emily will conduct archival research in Brussels, Tervuren, and Leuven while affiliated with Ghent University’s African Studies Program. Her dissertation and research in Belgium focuses on the transnational circulation of Congolese performers during the Belgian colonial period and the cultural politics of dance in 20th century colonial and authoritarian regimes.
